The ‘String of Dolphins’ plant likes to grow up, then out, before finally trailing down all around. To support its delicate vines whilst it is in the growth stage, and to contain its wild and often messy appearance, why not purchase or make a coir moss stick.
You will need a strip of coir, some heavy duty cord such as gardening twine and either a wooden skewer or hairgrip.
Firstly cut some coir to the height you need, being careful as can be rough to hold. Start wrapping the coir tightly together so it forms a cylinder shape. Next secure with wrapping your chosen twine all around at regular intervals.
To add to your soil so it stands up and supports your String plant, you can either add a wooden skewer inside or hairgrips to the bottom so that it can be anchored as required alongside your plant in the soil of your pot.
Once into position, carefully train your ‘String of Dolphins’ to wrap around the coir moss stick.
